Melanoma Month – Patient Story
- Posted on: May 7 2018
A patient came to my office for evaluation of skin tags on his neck.
He agreed to an entire skin screening and during this examination, a mole was noted on his back, something he was totally unaware of.
It looked suspicious, so a biopsy was performed and the specimen sent on to the lab for analysis.
The diagnosis confirmed my suspicion which was that the condition was indeed a melanoma — a life-threatening condition.
I performed a complete excision in my office and successfully removed the entire cancerous lesion from the patient. There was no recurrence. The patient was happy, the family grateful.
The patient lived to celebrate the wedding of two of his children over the next three
years — all because of an astute observation of a “mole.”
A Happy Ending
Can you pick out the Cancerous Mole?
